Cloister

The cloister was the open square or garth and was originally surrounded by four open passageways covered by a lean-to roof. The monks may have utilised the open area as a herb garden. The cloister's twin-shaft columns supporting the roof have been recreated in the permanent exhibition in the Coach House.
