The Abbey and the village

For many years, visitors to the area have been unaware of the history and heritage of St.Dogmaels. Even some of the local community were unaware of the significance of the ruins that lie near St,Thomas's (The Apostle) Church in the centre of the village. Hanes Llandoch has been asked by the village to put St.Dogmaels back on the map by utilising the impressive remains of the Abbey, the Victorian Coach House and the resources of the area. Even we were surprised to see the size and extent of the ancient abbey when it was brought back to life with a digital reconstruction.

Today the abbey stands in ruins but its size, importance and life are being re-created for visitors and students to enjoy and stand in awe. St.Dogmaels abbey was a magnificent edifice to Christian faith, human endeavour and dedication.

Come to the Coach House and discover for yourself the past of this village from medieval times to the present day.
