The Coach House Heritage Centre
The Coach House is situated in the village of St.Dogmaels, also known by its Welsh name of Llandudoch, close to Cardigan on the southern banks of the River Teifi. www.visitpembrokeshire.com/st-dogmaels.aspx
If approaching Cardigan from the south via Fishguard or Haverfordwest you will travel along the A487. As you come down the hill into Cardigan with fine views of Caridgan Bay and Cardigan Island on the left you will be locing over the village of St.Dogmaels nestling in the hollow above the river. Follow the main road to the first roundabout and turn left as though heading into Cardigan town. At the bottom of the steep hill, and before crossing the old stone bridge, take a left turn at the Eagle pub and follow the narrow road signposted to Poppit Sands. Follow the road up the hill and then down into the Llandudoch village (sign on the right hand side of the road). At the bottom of the hill take the second turning on the left towards the old mill (Y Felin). At the top of this road turn left and the Coach House is on the right; on the left is the mill pond (mind the ducks!).
Beyond the Coach House is the spectacular ruins of the ancient abbey. Stop and enjoy the tranquility of the site, its history and the wonderful heritage it provides for the village. Come inside the Coach House and discover for yourself the strange Ogham language on the ancient stones and the stories of the "grey" monks who had such an impact on the life of the area.
If exhausted then sit and enjoy a local produce meal at our own cafe while you are taken on a visual tour of the surrounding area.
